Storm Chase 16th January, 2004

After receiving very high rainfall amounts into the 100mm mark around most of the SE the previous night, there was plenty of moisture to play with today. It was another sultry day again with temperatures in the 30's and dp's in the high teens/low 20's. The cap wasn't overly strong this day and wind shear wasn't the best which meant things would probably only develop along the ranges and that's exactly what happened. Just after 3pm the cap broke and explosive updrafts rocketed into the atmosphere to the SW of me around Ipswich. The anvil looked quite crisp but due to the lack of wind shear, it didn't really move too far.

The storm was very short lived and was quite pulsey lasting only 20 minutes before the lack of wind shear got the better of it and it begun to collapse.
