Storm Chase 29th January, 2004

Today had very similar conditions to the 28th with strong wind shear, plenty of moisture and plenty of instability. Things started to develop just after 3pm and by 4pm another squall line had become organised and was moving east very fast. Once agian development was in the afternoon just after 4pm and the squall line built up very fast. I went across the road to my friends place to get a better view of the gust front which looked quite nice.

At 4:30, I raced home to my place because it was green as just to the west and there was cg's pumping out of the gust front. I took some more piccies from my front steps before getting some video footage of it coming over.

The gust front came over very fast and I took a few more pics before it hit with a recorded wind gust of 112km/hr at Archerfield Airport. The trees were bent horizontal from the strong wind gusts however the squall line didn't last too long and was over and done within 10 minutes.
